About Icare

As a specialist care provider we were originally established in Lancashire in 1989 under the Wharfedale name, but are now rapidly developing and extending our provision as the Icare group. We are already a very experienced care and meals provider through our care at home and community meals programmes as well as running our residential care facility at Cleveleys. Now with the building of the mature living complex at links view, St Annes we are expanding into extra care and have already been selected as the preferred developer of extra care mature living at hilltop in Accrington.

We believe the Icare name sums up our philosophy of delivering care with efficiency and professionalism but in a humane and sympathetic manner. As our mission statement states, we aim:

“To be the best provider of community services to our clients in our chosen market and to make all our clients and employees feel valued and appreciated.”

To achieve the levels of service and care that our clients rightly expect we pay great attention to the selection and training of our staff. We provide in-depth and friendly care, treating our service users with dignity and compassion, so it is important that our staff at all levels are friendly, considerate, knowledgeable, and most of all deeply caring in their attitude. We have a formal staff training and development programme as we believe every increase in skills and abilities results in a corresponding improvement to the service our clients enjoy.

We are also at the forefront of systems development for the Care Industry thus ensuring that we are an efficient as well as a caring organisation. We have recently implemented new software specifically designed for the Community Meals market and are reviewing our IT capacity for the whole organisation in line with our expansion plans. In addition we are constantly improving our quality systems to ensure we continue to provide good quality services.

Management Expertise
The Group consults closely with its external Business Advisory Group, which includes specialist consultants and financial experts, on every new project it undertakes. For example, in keeping with our expansion plans we plan to relocate our Head Office to larger premises that will include additional cold storage facilities to service the expected growth in our community meals provision. As a group, Icare has the experience of managing large care and community meals contracts for local authorities. We have the capacity and expertise within our management structure to take on board and successfully manage any further multiple large contracts with the concern of a charity and the professionalism of a business.
